I Believe in Jesus. What Now?
|
|
G lory to God!If you believe in Jesus Christ and have asked Him to be your Lord and come into your life then you are saved. You are now a child of God! The Bible says you have become a new creation. It says that old things have passed away and all things are new.
Do you feel any different? Some people don't feel anything special when they first receive Jesus Christ. Don't worry about it. What matters is the truth that you are saved and are now a new creation! Trust in His word (the Bible) and His promise that you are saved. Rejoice and tell somebody about it. Tell them Jesus saved you.
Go to ChurchYour next step should be to go to a Bible believing Christian church (see the "Fellowship & Church" page for more) and tell an usher or somebody else who works at the church that you received Jesus as your savior and would like to talk to a pastor or church leader. They will be very happy to talk to you and they might even give you a free Bible.
Which Church is the Right Church?A Bible believing Christian church. Be careful, some religions say they are Christian but they are not. How do you know? The Bible is God's inspired word that He has given to us. It's critical that you go to a church that teaches only from the Bible. Some churches teach with other books and materials. They might teach the ideas, opinions, and laws of men as if they were equal with God's. Some churches emphasize so-called prophets or other "holy men" in addition to the Bible. These would seek to add, subtract, or change the Christian " gospel" (the good news of God's forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ) in some way. The Bible says that if any other person comes and gives you a different gospel, even if it is an angel, let them be cursed. Those are hard words but it is important to God that you know and believe His truth directly and only from His word. Whatever church you go to, compare their teachings with the Bible.
He is Your God!You have entered into a relationship with the great God of the universe. What is even better is that you can be close and personal like a son is with his father. Pray often and for every reason. Right now, right here, at any moment, He wants to be close to you. You probably have a strong desire to hear His voice. That's good. You should stay that way for the rest of your life.
How Can You Hear God's Voice?Do you want to know more about God? Is your heart burning to know Him better? Read the Bible. Do you want to know what He wants you to do? Read the Bible. Do you want to know what he thinks about the things that you do and how you live your life? Read the Bible. Forget about other books. They can pull you away from the truth. You will hear God's voice in His written message (the Bible).
